Today was my day to catch a train in Linz and arrive in Freistadt to meet the family I will be staying with. After all of the different train station experiences yesterday, I was feeling a little more confident about my ability to get on and off of the right train successfully. I got to the train station early and looked on the board to see what track to go to to wait on the train and saw 'Bus' instead of a track number. This concerned me a little...so I found the ticket counter and asked why it said 'bus' instead of a train track. I was informed that I had to take a bus to someplace I can't remember now and the name wasn't on any of the ticket information I had, get off of the bus and then board the train that would take me to Freistadt! Ok. That was a little unexpected...and admittedly did worry me a bit since I was counting on just one entry and exit with my superheavy luggage...plus, the more directions I have to follow to get someplace, the likelihood that I will somehow mess it up and get lost increases. Yikes! Long story short, I did end up on the correct bus that led me to the correct train station that finally got me on the train to Freistadt! Yay! It was a very pleasant journey too since there were only 2 other people in my section of the train....much better than the overcrowded trains from yesterday's journeys!
I love the little towns around where I am staying. Everything is so beautiful here. Lots of farmland and rolling hills. If only the crazy heat wave wasn't happening, I would be more inclined to explore more outdoors! I'm going to have to wait for cooler weather though! The place where I will be living is awesome! Beautiful scenery. Nice houses. Pet rabbits!! There is going to be so much to see and do while I'm here. The kids I will be teaching are so much fun! I have already attempted to play a German version of 'Hide and Seek' with them and we played in their treehouse for a little while. I opted to stay home while the kids went to a soccer match so that I could unpack and take a nap. I'm still not quite caught up on rest...but I'm getting there. Excited for what's to come.
Here are a few pictures of my room here. It is very nice. They had a plate of fruit and cookies for me on my desk and a little vase of flowers. Very sweet!
(:
Here is a photo I took in Linz last night...
I haven't taken many photos yet because of all of the traveling and not having much time in the cities I've been...but hopefully I will have more photos to post soon!
